The Listowel North Pole Express is a one of a kind family Christmas experience. Your visit to see Santa takes you for a ride on a real train, the Lartigue Monorail! This year, our magical Christmas experience runs Saturday December 15th and Sunday December 16th. Tickets are available to book online http://www.listowelnorthpoleexpress.com/book-now/
We believe that this Christmas experience is something truly special. Our team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to create a non-commercial joy filled day out for children and parents alike. Santa has requested that his elves create a Listowel themed gift and these top secret, locally produced gifts have been designed by Santa’s Listowel elves.
Your visit to the Listowel North Pole Express will include storytelling, a visit to the gardening elf Bláithín, elf aerobics, a train ride on Ireland’s only monorail, which will take you to the magical postbox to post your letter to Santa, a tasty hot chocolate and festive activities and crafts. All of this before you meet the main man himself, Santa! You will get your photograph taken with Santa and receive a unique and special gift.
The Listowel North Pole Express prides itself on being community led and environmentally friendly. Members of the Listowel Traders Association volunteer their time throughout the year to make this experience special for each child. Handmade decorations, carefully thought out gifts and a helping hand from the people of Listowel make this Christmas experience truly special. The involvement of the local community and volunteers ensure that the experience can remain non-commercial. The profits from ticket sales are reinvested back into projects in Listowel.
Listowel is delighted to have won the much coveted award of Tidiest Town in Ireland this year. Decades of hard work, dedication and determination by the Tidy Town Committee has resulted in National recognition of their tireless work and we heartily congratulate them! The Listowel North Pole Express is delighted to partner with the Tidy Towns to remind children and parents alike about the importance of our pollinators, the bees. The Tidy Towns team, along with our gardening elf Bláithín, have packaged seeds for children to take home and plant in the new year. A planting demonstration teaches children how to plant their own seeds, and acts as a quick reminder of how simple it is for us to help bees survive.
Environmentally conscious upcycling and reuse of donated materials can be seen in all areas of this Christmas experience. Donated fabrics have become magical designer elf costumes, and Santa is delighted with his upcycled festive arm chair. Both local and visiting artists have had a creative hand in making the experience truly bespoke, and the gifts for the children were designed in Listowel and are Irish made.
The Listowel North Pole Express is delighted to be involved in the town as a whole, sharing in the joy and excitement of Christmas with business owners through Listowel’s famous shop window displays. The whole town gets involved and you and your family can take a festive walk through our beautiful, tidy streets to find each of the train themed windows for yourselves!
The committee of the Listowel North Pole Express is hugely grateful to the members of the Lartigue Monorail who make this experience possible. The Lartigue Monorail is open to visitors during the summer months and is mostly volunteer led. We encourage you to visit their website and plan your visit for next year.
